For all of 2020 was a very difficult year as we hunkered down to avoid the COVID-19 virus especially us seniors. It was also tough on those of us who enjoy photography. As a result, I spent a lot of time in my backyard and occasionally going to a few other areas where I expected there would be very few people. The picture above was taken on a day that was foggy so on my daily walk I took my camera and walked through a cemetery and took this picture. To me, it resembles the times we were in with the thousands of people who have died from virus especially our veterans and the fog spoke to what our future looked like.
In the early part of the year before we even knew about COVID we went to Lock Ridge Park and Museum which is a former iron ore furnace in the 1800s in Lehigh County. We also went to Bethlehem, PA, and Lake Minsi in the northern part of the county.
Photography is in many ways about telling stories. Here I tell the story of young rabbits in the yard.
The second story is the Robins nest that was built in a bush that became a small tree outside our kitchen window. I followed the Robins from the time they were hatched until they flew the nest.
In one of the small rooms in our basement, I created a microphotography studio and built a frame to have my lights and mount my camera as can be seen in the first picture. Doing micro it is critical to have everything perfectly still. I took pictures of insects and very small flowers in the studio and also outside.
Finally, I took a lot of pictures of Dee’s flowers she had planted on our small property. This is her passion during the growing season and our property looks very nice as a result. The three last pictures are abstracts that I created.
